Ceremonial first pitches have become a tradition in the world of Major League Baseball. Presidents, celebrities, soldiers and kids have all taken part in this tradition by throwing out the first pitch of a game.
Recently, one small child was given the honor of throwing out a pitch for a game between the Reds and the Cubs. At first, the little toddler was placed close to the plate so that he would have an easier shot, but he wasn’t having any of it.
Little Nolan was dressed in his best Cincinnati red when he confidently walked out to home plate. Most people who throw the first pitch do it quickly in order to get it over with, but Nolan was determined to take his time so that he would do it right.
Nolan kept telling the man helping him that he wanted to move further back, but the guy did not seem to understand him. Finally, the little boy pointed at the mound to let everyone know that he wanted to throw where the real pitcher throws!
Unlike Nolan, some people who throw the first pitch end up humiliating themselves. One example of this is rapper 50 Cent, who completely missed the plate and embarrassed himself. Another example is Mark Wahlberg, who was given the chance to throw for his favorite team, the Boston Red Sox. Wahlberg ended up humiliating himself by not only missing the plate, but hitting a fan with the ball!
Nolan will always be remembered for his confidence and poise in this stressful situation! See how his pitch went in the video below, and SHARE this story so your friends and family can see this as well!
